Sometimes, saving a life starts with a simple walk. At STREET RESCUE, we see firsthand how a few minutes of sunshine, exercise, and human kindness can lift a shelter dog’s spirit — and sometimes even lead to adoption.

If you’ve ever thought, “I wish I could help” — this is your sign. Grab a leash. The dogs are waiting.

💪 Why Dog Walking Volunteers Matter

  • They bring hope. Shelter dogs need social time to stay happy and healthy.

  • They prepare pets for adoption. The more dogs practice walking calmly, the faster they find homes.

  • They heal hearts — including yours. Spending time with rescue dogs lowers stress and boosts mental health for humans, too.

🗓️ How to Get Started

  1. Find your nearest shelter.Use PetHelpFinder.org to search shelters that welcome volunteers near you.

  2. Sign up for orientation. Most shelters require a short training. Bring ID, closed shoes, and your big heart.

  3. Be consistent.Even one shift a week makes a difference. Rescue dogs thrive on routine.

  4. Share your story.Snap a photo (with staff permission) and tag @StreetRescueTV to inspire others to volunteer!
